The MG TC, launched 70 years ago, is often credited with igniting sports interest in the US. Soldiers who experienced them while based in Great Britain enjoyed the thrill of nimble cars on twisty roads. At first individuals imported them, and then MG sold TCs in North America with the concession of turn signals for that market. Buyers in New England and California took to racing these cars. The 1948 Grand Prix at Watkins Glen featured 10 MG TCs out of 35 cars! Other British car companies joined the fun and even American makers produced sports cars by the mid-1950s. 10,000 MG TCs were produced, all RHD.
