Annual production and customer deliveries
The Volkswagen Group annual reports and Bentley’s own financial announcements provide a useful recent production series. These are production or delivery figures for the stated fiscal or calendar reporting period; production and customer deliveries are separate measures.
| Period | Vehicles produced | Vehicles delivered |
|---|---|---|
| 2018 | 9,115 | 10,494 |
| 2019 | 12,430 | 11,006 |
| 2020 | 10,693 | 11,206 |
| 2021 | 14,788 | 14,659 |
| 2022 | 16,365 | 15,174 |
| 2023 | 12,941 | 13,560 |
| 2024 | 11,224 | 10,643 |
The 2018 production total was 9,115 vehicles, according to Bentley in the Volkswagen Group Annual Report 2019. The same report records 12,430 vehicles in 2019. Bentley’s customer-delivery figures for those years were 10,494 and 11,006 respectively, as reported in Bentley posts record financial performance in 2021.
For 2020, the Volkswagen Group reported 10,693 vehicles produced. Bentley reported 11,206 customer deliveries for that year in the same financial-performance source. The 2021 annual report records 14,788 vehicles produced, while Bentley reported 14,659 customer deliveries.
Production reached 16,365 vehicles in 2022 in the Volkswagen Group Annual Report 2022. Bentley’s announcement of its 2022 results records 15,174 customer deliveries, described as the company’s first year above 15,000 delivered vehicles. The corresponding source is Best ever financial results in 2022.
The Volkswagen Group Annual Report 2023 records 12,941 vehicles produced in 2023. Bentley reported 13,560 customer deliveries in Highest levels of personalisation drive second best financial performance on record.
The Audi Quarterly Update FY2024 records 11,224 Bentley vehicles produced in 2024 and 10,643 delivered in the fiscal year. That source describes 2024 production as 15.2% below the stated 2023 production comparison of 13,241 vehicles. The published comparison is retained here as reported; the annual-report production series above lists 12,941 for 2023.
The model mix from 2018 to 2020
Model-line figures show how Bentley’s total was distributed before and during the early 2020s transition. In 2018, the Bentayga was the largest listed production line at 4,072 vehicles. Continental GT Coupé output was 2,841, Flying Spur output was 1,627, and Mulsanne output was 547. Continental GT Convertible production was 28 vehicles. These figures come from Bentley in the Volkswagen Group Annual Report 2019.
The 2019 model mix changed substantially in the listed lines. Bentayga production rose to 5,232 vehicles, while Continental GT Coupé production reached 3,903. Continental GT Convertible production was 2,750. Mulsanne production was 443, and Flying Spur production was 102. The figures are reported in the same Volkswagen Group annual report.
The 2020 model figures in Bentley in the Volkswagen Group Annual Report 2020 were Bentayga, 3,946; Flying Spur, 3,381; Continental GT Coupé, 1,995; Continental GT Convertible, 1,244; and Mulsanne, 127 vehicles. The set illustrates a listed production mix in which the Bentayga remained the largest line, while the Flying Spur represented a much larger production figure than in 2019.
The model figures should not be treated as customer-delivery totals. They describe production by line, while the annual series above separately describes total production and deliveries. Different reporting labels and periods also matter when comparing the figures.
The model mix from 2021 to 2023
Bentayga production was 5,838 vehicles in 2021, according to Bentley in the Volkswagen Group Annual Report 2021. Flying Spur production was 3,947, Continental GT Coupé production was 3,031, and Continental GT Convertible production was 1,972.
The 2022 line figures in Audi in the Volkswagen Group Annual Report 2022 were 7,346 Bentayga vehicles, 4,793 Continental GT vehicles, and 4,226 Flying Spur vehicles. The 2022 report uses “Continental GT” rather than the separate coupé and convertible labels shown in the earlier figures, so the categories are not identical across every year.
For 2023, the Volkswagen Group Annual Report 2023 records 5,595 Bentayga vehicles, 4,168 Continental GT vehicles, and 3,178 Flying Spur vehicles. Those three listed model lines account for the model-level figures supplied for that reporting period.
Across these years, the Bentayga is the largest listed line in each year for which a directly comparable Bentayga figure is supplied. The figures also show that model naming conventions changed: earlier reporting separates Continental GT Coupé and Convertible, while later reporting groups Continental GT together.
Historic Bentley production
Bentley’s early production was measured in hundreds rather than the thousands recorded in the modern period. The Bentley Story from Bentley Motors states that the Bentley 3 Litre remained in production from 1921 through 1929. The same source records 362 examples of the 6½ Litre built at Bentley’s Cricklewood factory.
The Speed Six was built in a limited run of 182 models between 1928 and 1930, according to Bentley’s history source. Bentley also records that production of 55 supercharged 4½ Litre Blower Bentleys was sanctioned in the 1920s in Mulliner Coachbuilt.
These early numbers are model-production counts, not annual totals. They describe specific historical runs and should not be combined with the modern annual production series as though they measured the same reporting unit.
The first production Continental GT was built in December 2003 and carried chassis VIN 20001, according to Bentley’s 2003 Continental GT heritage record. Bentley states that the model’s debut helped move the company from fewer than 1,000 highly coachbuilt cars annually to close to ten times that figure. This is a historical scale description from Bentley, rather than a complete annual production table.
Bentley’s heritage figures also include 710 second-generation Continental Supersports cars built in 2017, as recorded in History and Heritage. That number is a model-run total for the second-generation Continental Supersports, not total Bentley production in 2017.
Continuation and coachbuilt cars
Mulliner’s continuation and coachbuilt programs preserve Bentley’s low-volume production tradition alongside the higher-volume modern model lines. The Mulliner Coachbuilt source records 12 new Bentley Blower Continuation cars after its development prototype.
The Speed Six Continuation project includes 12 customer cars after its Car Zero development car. The project period supplied by Bentley is 2024. These continuation quantities are customer-car programs and do not represent the complete output of the factory in that year.
The same source gives tightly defined Batur production limits: the Bentley Batur coupé is limited to 18 cars, while the Batur Convertible is limited to 16 cars. The supplied periods are 2022–2024 for the coupé and 2024–2025 for the convertible.
Bentley’s End of an era as final Bentley W12 engine hand-built in Crewe records 12 Bacalar coachbuilt barchettas. It also reports planned runs of 120 Speed Edition 12 models for each of four lines: Bentayga, Flying Spur, Continental GT, and Continental GTC. The stated period for those plans is 2023–2024.
| Limited or historic program | Quantity | Stated period |
|---|---|---|
| Blower Continuation customer cars | 12 | 2020–2022 |
| Speed Six Continuation customer cars | 12 | 2024 |
| Batur coupé | 18 | 2022–2024 |
| Batur Convertible | 16 | 2024–2025 |
| Bacalar | 12 | 2020 |
| Speed Edition 12 Bentayga | 120 planned | 2023–2024 |
| Speed Edition 12 Flying Spur | 120 planned | 2023–2024 |
| Speed Edition 12 Continental GT | 120 planned | 2023–2024 |
| Speed Edition 12 Continental GTC | 120 planned | 2023–2024 |
The word “planned” is important for the four Speed Edition 12 figures: they describe the announced quantity, not a supplied count of completed vehicles. Likewise, continuation-car totals are separate from the annual production totals in the Volkswagen Group and Audi reporting.
The 2023–2024 powertrain transition
The 2024 production figures include a specific plug-in-hybrid measure. The Audi Quarterly Update FY2024 records 2,717 Bentley plug-in-hybrid vehicles produced in 2024 and 1,406 produced in 2023. These are production counts for the stated years, not deliveries.
The same 2024 source records production by current model line: 4,288 Bentayga vehicles, 4,428 Continental GT vehicles, and 2,508 Flying Spur vehicles. The model figures provide a 2024 view alongside the 11,224-vehicle total production figure reported for Bentley in that fiscal year.
For context, the 2023 model-line figures were 5,595 Bentayga, 4,168 Continental GT, and 3,178 Flying Spur vehicles in the Volkswagen Group Annual Report 2023. The 2024 figures therefore sit within a period in which both the model mix and the recorded plug-in-hybrid output were changing. The sources identify the quantities and periods; they do not establish that every year-to-year difference was caused by one specific factor.
The production record thus combines several scales: early Bentley runs counted in double or triple digits, heritage model totals in the hundreds, modern model lines in the thousands, and recent annual production totals above 10,000. Reading each number with its source, measurement period, geography, and production or delivery label keeps those different kinds of Bentley statistics distinct.
